He is a musician/ He has been on Instagram for 4 years now. At the beginning he didn’t wanted to be on it but it soon became clear for him that Instagram was in fact, as he says, “a really good marketing tool”
He doesn’t curate his content. He just posts what he likes. He also has made it an artist profile so with with that, he thinks he has a more in-depth view of how his posts perform. He thinks that customization on Instagram is up to the artists. For example, he just puts what he wants to see.
Once he posted traditional African ceremony pics and got censored because Instagram stated it as “nudity”.
He loves the blank square format because it reminds him of medium-format film photography. He used to think that he needed to post all the time in order not to lose followers but now he posts whenever it’s “necessary” because he tries to stay off social media. To maintain a good community he nevertheless tries to stay consistent and makes sure that he like what he posts.
He believes that Instagram allowed him to break down parts of his creative process and give people an in into how he makes the music. He thinks it is a great tool to display artistic content, like tumblr. He nevertheless also uses Twitter and YouTube but he precises “Instagram is good though”
